The Safety Technician is responsible for enhancing a safe and healthy work environment and maintaining it across all areas of the company. The role involves working closely with management, supervisors, employees, and contractors to identify and assess hazards, evaluate risks, and implement effective control measures, ensuring compliance with established safety systems and occupational health and safety standards. The Safety Technician supports the development of a robust safety culture through training, awareness, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with local regulations and occupational health and safety standards.
- Conducting regular safety inspections in the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Monitoring workplace activities and enforcing safe work practices.
- Conducting safety training sessions and providing health and safety education to employees and contractors.
- Participating in hazard assessments, safety analyses, and incident investigations.
- Maintaining records and reports of safety inspections, training, and incidents related to health and safety.
- Ensuring the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Participating in emergency preparedness drills and training.
- Promoting safety awareness through campaigns, workshops, and safety initiatives.
- Assisting in internal and external audits related to health and safety.
- Monitoring safety performance and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Supporting the management of health and safety resources and budgets.
- Performing any other health and safety-related tasks as assigned by management.
