Job description

A building materials company needs a "dynamo" who connects the warehouse to construction sites, not just an ordinary sales employee. Here is the job description:

Job Objective:

Expand the customer base and increase the company's sales of building materials (such as ceramics, paints, or basic materials) by building strong relationships with contractors, engineering offices, and project owners.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Opening New Markets: Searching for ongoing construction projects and attracting new clients (contractors, real estate development companies).
  • Managing Field Sales: Visiting construction sites and offices to present products and provide price quotes.
  • Technical Follow-up: Advising clients on material specifications (such as cement quality, insulation types) and ensuring they match their project needs.
  • Achieving Targets: Committing to achieving specific monthly and annual sales targets set by management.
  • Collecting Payments: Coordinating with the financial accountant to follow up on collecting payments from clients who purchased on credit.

Required Skills:

  • Persuasion and Negotiation Skills: The ability to close large deals and handle objections.
  • Technical Product Knowledge: Understanding the characteristics of building materials and the differences between various brands.
  • Mobility: Possessing a driver's license and good knowledge of geographical areas and ongoing projects.
  • Relationship Building: Effective communication skills to build a strong network within the construction sector.

Skills

  • Objection Handling: The ability to intelligently respond to price comparisons (e.g., "Why is your company's cement more expensive than the competitor's?").
  • Contract and Quantity Negotiation: The skill to reach a profitable "agreement point" when selling bulk orders to large projects.
  • Prospecting: The ability to survey geographical areas and discover projects still in the "excavation" phase to submit offers early.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Organizing customer records and following up on "after-sales service" to ensure the contractor's loyalty to the company.

Technical and Cognitive Skills:

  • Technical Product Knowledge: Understanding technical differences (such as the difference between insulation types, or concrete strength grades) to appear as an expert, not just a salesperson.
  • Market Reading: Monitoring the fluctuation of raw material prices (such as iron) to provide accurate and well-timed price quotes.

Personal Skills:

  • Flexibility and Endurance: The ability to work in the field at construction sites and under various weather conditions.
  • Social Intelligence: Building a strong "network of contacts" with site guards, engineers, and contractors to obtain information about new projects.
