Job Description:
The CAD Operator II is a mid-level drafting professional responsible for producing, modifying, and coordinating detailed engineering drawings across multiple disciplines. The role requires strong hands-on experience with advanced CAD and engineering design tools, the ability to independently handle complex drawings, and a solid understanding of international engineering standards and client-specific requirements. The position supports engineers and senior designers throughout the design lifecycle while ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and update detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings across assigned disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Interior Design).
- Independently interpret engineering inputs, specifications, markups, and sketches to produce accurate drawings.
- Use advanced engineering design and CAD tools (e.g., Bentley, SmartPlant, Revit, PDMS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other 3D tools) to support project deliverables.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable international codes, engineering standards, client specifications, and project procedures.
- Perform drawing checks, clash coordination, and consistency reviews before submission.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination by integrating inputs from other engineering disciplines.
- Incorporate review comments and manage drawing revisions efficiently while maintaining proper version control.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings and final documentation packages.
- Adhere to project schedules, quality plans, safety requirements, and internal workflows.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior CAD operators when required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, symbols, notations, and drafting practices across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent working knowledge of SABIC standard CAD software and tools, including SmartPlant Engineering tools, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling platforms.
- Hands-on experience with advanced engineering design tools such as Bentley, Revit, and PDMS.
- Solid understanding of international industry standards, engineering procedures, codes, and specifications.
