Job Scope:
As an Income Auditor at the hotel, your primary role is to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions related to revenue and income. You will be responsible for reviewing financial records, reconciling accounts, and conducting audits to verify the hotel's income streams and financial performance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Revenue Audit:
- Conduct daily audits of revenue-generating departments, including rooms, food and beverage, and other income sources, to verify accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
- Reconcile revenue reports, guest folios, POS transactions, and billing statements to ensure consistency and compliance with accounting standards.
- Financial Records Review:
- Review financial records, receipts, invoices, and supporting documents to verify the legitimacy of income transactions and adherence to internal controls.
- Identify discrepancies, errors, or irregularities in financial records and investigate root causes for resolution.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all income-related transactions and reporting activities.
- Monitor revenue recognition practices, sales tax compliance, and financial reporting standards to maintain accuracy and transparency.
- Audit Reporting:
- Prepare audit reports, financial analyses, and variance explanations to document audit findings and recommendations for management review.
- Communicate audit results, financial discrepancies, and corrective actions to relevant stakeholders to support decision-making and process improvements.
- Internal Controls Implementation:
- Implement and maintain internal controls, audit trails, and segregation of duties to safeguard income transactions and prevent fraud or errors.
- Recommend enhancements to internal control processes and procedures to strengthen financial controls and mitigate risks.
- System and Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, process automation, and efficiency improvements in income auditing and financial reporting activities.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to implement technological solutions and streamline audit processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with finance, accounting, and operational departments to ensure alignment of income auditing activities with overall financial goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff members on income auditing practices, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or CIA certification is preferred.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous experience in income auditing, financial analysis, or accounting roles within the hospitality industry.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in financial auditing principles and practices.
- Knowledge of accounting software, financial systems, and MS Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit procedures.
