JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and improving mechanical systems, desalination units, piping layouts, skid-mounted RO systems, and related engineering solutions that support SAWACO’s operational and strategic growth objectives.
The role ensures that designs are technically sound, cost-effective, compliant with applicable engineering standards, and suitable for manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance. The position also supports business initiatives such as Mobile Water Rental Units, Ultra-Pure Water Systems, Water-as-a-Service (O&M), and plant expansion projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare mechanical designs for RO plants, skid-mounted desalination units, piping systems, pumping stations, and supporting equipment.
- Develop General Arrangement (GA), fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Perform equipment sizing and selection for pumps, pressure vessels, piping, valves, and other mechanical components.
- Review engineering specifications, customer requirements, and project documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, instrumentation, civil, and process engineering disciplines.
- Support proposal preparation by providing technical layouts, equipment lists, and engineering calculations.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), material specifications, and technical procurement documentation.
- Support Procurement during the technical evaluation of suppliers and equipment.
- Review vendor drawings and approve technical submittals.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and project meetings.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving during project execution.
- Maintain engineering documentation, drawing revisions, and design records in accordance with document control procedures.
- Recommend engineering improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and cost optimization.
