Safely operate a boom truck to lift, move, and position heavy materials at construction sites, ensuring load stability and adherence to lift plans.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the boom truck and its equipment, documenting any defects and ensuring operational readiness.
Navigate various job sites, including rough terrain and congested areas, while maintaining situational awareness to prevent accidents.
Communicate effectively with ground crew, signal persons, and site supervisors using hand signals or radio communication to coordinate lifts.
Read and interpret load charts, engineering plans, and site schematics to determine safe lifting capacities and operating procedures.
Maintain accurate daily logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, work performed, and any incidents or delays encountered.
Ensure all loads are properly secured and balanced before and during transport and lifting operations.
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and local traffic laws, reporting any unsafe conditions immediately.
Perform routine maintenance on the boom truck, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lubrication, to ensure optimal performance.
Respond to emergency situations calmly and professionally, following established protocols for accidents or equipment malfunctions.
Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with a clean driving record.
Hold a current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification for construction safety.
Have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience operating boom trucks in a similar industry (e.g., construction, utilities, heavy lifting).
Demonstrate proficiency in reading and understanding load charts and lift plans.
Exhibit strong mechanical aptitude for performing basic maintenance and identifying equipment issues.
Possess excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning abilities for precise operation.
Be physically capable of climbing in and out of the truck, standing for extended periods, and lifting moderate weight.
Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Show a strong commitment to safety protocols and a proactive approach to risk management.
Be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as project demands require.
