Job description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote the mission of Worldwide Zoo Group as directed by the Managing Director.
- Build strong relationships with all clients and provide world-class customer service to all guests.
- Oversee animal health programs.
- Knowledge of current health status of collection.
- Manage daily diagnostics and treatments.
- Collaborate with the animal care staff.
- Organize and maintain pharmacy and surgery areas.
- Oversee medical care of animal rehabilitation program.
- Assist with post-mortem exams.
- Assist with maintenance of animal health records and preventative medicine program..
- Assist with conducting health certification exams for animals and participate in transport of animals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills within the English language.
- Conduct themselves in a professional, positive manner with co-workers and guests.
- Minimum 2 years experience working as a veterinary nurse with various animals
- Must have knowledge of up-to-date veterinary techniques, practices, procedures, equipment and instruments.
- Must have excellent knowledge of exotic animal medicine.
- Must have knowledge of X-ray practices, procedures and regulations.
- Must have knowledge of local regulations as they relate to veterinary medicine.
- Must have knowledge of animal nutrition.
- Must have ability to diagnose, treat and medicate exotic animals.
- Must have ability to prepare & maintain accurate records.
- Must have ability to recognize abnormal behavior or symptoms of illness in animals.
- Must have ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and be highly professional, proactive, self-motivated, independent, a problem solver
- Computer literate (MS Office) proficiency with computers and current software applications.
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, and operate objects, tools or controls, frequently required to lift and/or move up to.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, crouch, or crawl and to talk and hear
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 23 kilograms and occasionally lift and/or move more than 46 kilograms
