System / Database Operations Lead Engineer

They undertake complex operational activities including drafting ZATCA IT systems and database operations guidelines and standards. Leading the installation, configuration and upgrades of software, hardware, operating systems and processes as planned. Supervising the implementation of operations and security patches as well as vendors release notes. Troubleshooting and identifying root causes, providing technical support for complex incidents and tickets. Monitoring ZATCA systems and applications on a daily basis to ensure proper operation and provide recommendations to be taken to relevant stakeholders.

• Assess current ZATCA systems and database operational model, identify gaps and challenges to define IT systems and database operations areas of improvement and stay abreast of the latest trends and standards
• Gather business needs, oversee the development of databases design, review and finalize database capacity plans to ensure that all projects are aligned with set plans
• Collect needed operational inputs, perform daily operations of ZATCA systems and databases to maintain the best operational performance
• Oversee all daily work activities of systems and database operations, assess the feasibility of automation to build scripts automating the daily operations of when possible
• Develop maintenance implementation plans based on technical needs, and implement the necessary maintenance activities in coordination with all relevant stakeholders to maintain optimal system performance
• Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner
• Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly
• Train junior staff on the different job activities to ensure transfer of know-how, when applicable
• Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility, and monitor the workflow of subordinates/ junior staff
• Support junior staff or direct reports in order to execute their duties according to set policies and processes

Jobholders at this level are experienced professionals capable of conducting work with general directions. They are primarily concerned with developing solutions to challenges which require some analysis to understand and resolve, and addressing issues escalated from junior levels.
