Genomics Laboratory Specialist I

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• 1. Runs wide variety of scientific experiments and research projects.
• 2. Evaluates and interprets data and provides results to support publication.
• 3. Assists in the preparation and writing of research reports, manuscripts, and papers for presentation and publication.
• 4. Searches literature, utilizing all available resources, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly.
• 5. Responsible for general laboratory organization and maintenance, and supply ordering. Follows all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
• 6. Develops and implements research quality control procedures.
• 7. Provides assistance to other laboratory team members as directed by the Supervisor.
• 8. Follows all Organization's related Policies and Procedures.
• 9. Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.
• 10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Masters various techniques relevant to ongoing research projects. Performs experiments in an independent manner; collects, prepares, analyses specimens or conduct animal studies; calculates and evaluates results; maintains efficient operation of the laboratory such as laboratory inventory, organization and orders; keeps up-to-date of current publications relative to methods within area of research; and provides supervision and guidance to students and junior technical staff

Education Master s or Bachelor s Degree of Science from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline relevant to the research field is required.

Experience Required Four (4) years of relevant experience with Master's Degree or six (6) years with Bachelor's Degree is required.

Other Requirements(Certificates)

• Evidence of excellent level of technical, communication and computer skills and accomplishments that need to be described and scored by immediate supervisor in the Scientific Scoring Form.
• Evidence of publications as a co-author.
• Evidence of mentoring ability and supervisory skills to trainees, and junior technical staff.
• Proof of working knowledge in safety measures such as biological, radiological, and/or chemical in form of certificates. If not available, then a letter from the immediate supervisor stating the candidate working knowledge in the relevant field.
