The Senior Architect Exhibition & Museum Specialist will provide architectural leadership, technical advisory services, design review, rehabilitation planning, and stakeholder coordination across a portfolio of exhibition, museum, workplace, and architectural rehabilitation projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing existing facilities, developing rehabilitation strategies, reviewing design packages, supporting visitor-experience initiatives, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects align with client objectives, Saudi regulations, accessibility requirements, and international best practices.
Your role
Architectural Assessments & Rehabilitation Planning
- Undertake architectural assessments of existing facilities, buildings, and interior environments.
- Identify deficiencies, opportunities for improvement, and rehabilitation strategies.
- Prepare technical evaluations, condition assessment reports, and architectural recommendations.
- Support feasibility studies, space utilization reviews, and operational assessments.
Design Review & Technical Advisory
- Review architectural, interior design, and exhibition design packages prepared by consultants.
- Evaluate compliance with applicable Saudi building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards.
- Provide technical comments, recommendations, and design improvement proposals.
- Participate in design review workshops and technical coordination meetings.
Exhibition & Museum Planning
- Support the planning and development of exhibition and museum environments.
- Contribute to exhibition storytelling frameworks, gallery planning, visitor journey mapping, and interpretive strategies.
- Review exhibition content layouts, visitor circulation, wayfinding, and interactive experience concepts.
- Collaborate with exhibition, graphic design, and media specialists to develop engaging visitor experiences.
Concept Development & Design Coordination
- Assist in the development of architectural and interior design concepts.
- Prepare and review design briefs, space programs, concept layouts, and architectural narratives.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Support material selection, FF&E recommendations, and design optimization initiatives.
Stakeholder & Consultant Management
- Act as a key point of contact between the Client, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and technical workshops.
- Present design findings, recommendations, and project updates to senior stakeholders.
- Support informed decision-making through technical reporting and analysis.
Site Support & Implementation Monitoring
- Participate in site inspections and technical reviews during fit-out and rehabilitation works.
- Monitor compliance with design intent and approved specifications.
- Review mock-ups, materials, and contractor submissions.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and supporting project implementation.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design review documentation.
Contribute to monthly progress reports, risk registers, compliance assessments, and project status updates.
Produce high-quality visual and graphic communication materials to support project objectives.
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (Master's Degree preferred).
Professional registration with a recognized architectural body is desirable.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in architecture, with significant exposure to exhibition, museum, cultural, public-sector, or rehabilitation projects.
Experience working with leading international design consultancies or multidisciplinary practices.
Demonstrated experience in architectural rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, fit-out, and refurbishment projects.
Experience in the Middle East region, particularly Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles, space planning, and rehabilitation methodologies.
- Experience reviewing multidisciplinary design packages and consultant deliverables.
- Knowledge of museum, exhibition, visitor-experience, and cultural facility design.
- Understanding of accessibility requirements, building regulations, and code compliance processes.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and multidisciplinary coordination workflows.
- Ability to develop presentations, design reports, and visualization materials.
