AC Technician

Job Scope:

An AC (Air Conditioning) Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems specifically in hotels. This role involves diagnosing HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system issues, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring that air conditioning units operate efficiently to provide comfort and indoor air quality.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup:

• Install new air conditioning systems, ductwork, and ventilation components according to specifications, blueprints, and building codes.

• Configure HVAC controls, thermostats, and refrigerant lines to ensure proper operation and energy efficiency of air conditioning units.

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, changing filters, and lubricating parts to extend the lifespan of air conditioning systems.

• Diagnose system malfunctions, leaks, and inefficiencies, and repair or replace faulty components to restore optimal performance.

Refrigerant Handling and Compliance:

• Handle refrigerants safely, follow EPA regulations for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and disposal, and ensure compliance with environmental guidelines.

• Conduct leak testing, refrigerant charging, and pressure checks to maintain proper refrigerant levels and system efficiency.

Troubleshooting and Testing:

• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues in air conditioning systems using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.

• Test system performance, airflow, temperature levels, and humidity control to identify and resolve operational problems.

Customer Service and Communication:

• Interact with customers to understand their HVAC needs, explain repair options, provide cost estimates, and address any concerns or questions related to air conditioning services.

• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to coordinate service calls, schedule appointments, and ensure timely completion of repairs and installations.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of service calls, repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities for air conditioning systems.

• Generate service reports, work orders, and documentation of equipment performance to track maintenance schedules, document system conditions, and provide recommendations for improvements.

Education, Qualifications and Skills:

• Certification or training in HVAC technology, refrigeration systems, or air conditioning repair.

• Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing residential or commercial air conditioning systems.

• Knowledge of HVAC principles, refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and control mechanisms used in air conditioning units.

• Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Excellent customer service, communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality in HVAC service delivery.
