Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead and manage instrumentation maintenance, reliability, and performance at gold processing plant, requiring strong technical leadership to establish robust instrumentation systems that support safe, stable, and optimized gold processing operations.
The role requires close cooperation with customer teams and Metso engineering and maintenance staff. Due to the remote site location, prior experience in similar isolated processing plant environments is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Process Measurement
Lead all instrumentation maintenance activities across the process plant, including:
Flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical instruments
Slurry and density measurements
Gold processing-specific analysers
Manage installation, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting of field instruments to ensure accurate and reliable process measurements
Ensure spare instruments, calibration equipment, and test tools are available and properly maintained
Analyzers & CarbonSense
Take ownership of process analysers used in Gold processing Plant, including sample conditioning systems where applicable
Coordinate analyser troubleshooting, cleaning, validation, and performance reporting
Work closely with process and metallurgical teams to resolve analyser-related process deviations
Lead maintenance and reliability of CarbonSense systems, ensuring accurate carbon concentration measurements and stable operation
Maintenance Management & Shutdowns
Develop, implement, and execute annual instrumentation maintenance strategies and plans
Prepare and maintain instrumentation procedures, calibration routines, and work instructions specific to Gold Processing Plant
Plan and manage all instrumentation scope during shutdowns, outages, breakdowns, and plant project works
Ensure proper handover, documentation, and closing out of works
Safety, Compliance & Performance
Take full responsibility for instrumentation safety compliance in line with company HSEQ policies and site safety procedures
Ensure all instrumentation work complies with plant safety, electrical, and process safety requirements
Lead RCA investigations related to instrumentation failures, analysers, or measurement reliability
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of KPIs, defects, RCAs, and maintenance performance
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, supervise, and motivate instrumentation technicians to achieve sustained high performance
Ensure all instrumentation personnel are trained, competent, and authorized for their assigned tasks
Cooperate closely with Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Metallurgy, and Operations teams to optimize plant performance
Support cost efficiency by monitoring instrumentation spares, consumables, contractor usage, and manpower allocation
Basic Requirements

Technical Competence
Degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mineral processing, metallurgical, or continuous process plants
Practical experience with:
Field instrumentation and calibration
Process analysers
CarbonSense or similar carbon measurement systems
PLC/DCS interfaces and instrumentation I/O
Industrial fieldbus networks
Basic understanding of ore processing and gold plant operations
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Proven supervisory experience leading instrumentation maintenance teams
