Red Sea Company Announces Quantity Surveyor Position

Job Title:

The incumbent will be responsible for all quantity surveying activities related to the project, participating in all quantity surveying discussions with the client, project progress follow-up meetings throughout the project duration, in addition to communicating on all quantity surveying matters with contractors, consultants, and other relevant project parties.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor contractors' cost control procedures throughout the project duration, including the construction phase, final account, and defects liability period.
  • Implement and maintain all required cost control and auditing procedures for all project cost control activities designed to measure project status.
  • Evaluate any financial claim and provide necessary recommendations, in addition to providing input regarding the settlement of these claims.
  • Assess all variations, extra works, site changes, additions, and omissions, and incorporate them into monthly cost reports.
  • Prepare and price change orders and negotiate agreements with the client and contractor as necessary.
  • Negotiate contracts with the contractor in partnership with the Commercial Manager and Contracts Manager.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates.
  • Attend and record cost review meetings with contractors.
  • Assist in preparing tender invitation packages.
  • Assist the Commercial Manager in reviewing payment requests submitted by the contractor and consultant.
  • Provide assistance to the team during negotiations, arbitration, or any other form of dispute resolution.

Adhere to all standard operating policies, processes, and procedures to ensure work is executed in a controlled and consistent manner, and assist in preparing accurate functional Management Information Systems statements and reports to meet company requirements, policies, and standards.

Apply safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, and the delivery of high-quality products/services, while adopting a responsible environmental stance.

Continuous Improvement:

Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of departmental systems, processes, and practices considering international best practices, improving business processes, reducing costs, and increasing productivity.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in general consultancy/construction within estimation management.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and the industry.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Enthusiastic and diligent personality capable of working as a core team member.
  • Proficiency in computer use and the ability to compile data and prepare reports, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines with good planning and organizational skills.
  • Good conceptual, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
