ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

JOB PURPOSE
To design installation or remodeling of electrical works, troubleshooting and activities for assigned areas of offices, workshops, company houses, residential buildings, community facilities, and other miscellaneous buildings of the company, as well as specified government buildings sponsored by the company. Complete detailed designs and maintenance reviews for electrical works contracted and tendered.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Applies approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
Day-to-day Operations
- Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the Electrical Section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
Electrical System Designs and Specifications
- Prepares required designs and specifications of electrical systems, based on architectural drawings and plans prepared in the division for new construction or remodelling.
- Calculates and determines electrical loads and capacities, through discussions with engineers in charge of building design.
- Prepares basic/schematic of electrical designs of electrical systems appropriate to size and functions of the building in proposal, and prepares budgetary estimates for new project proposals entailing construction or remodelling.
- Makes design modifications for cost reduction, upon request from the project promoter.
- May also prepare preliminary and/or detailed drawings by identifying user requirements through consultation, if the project is given a higher priority by the supervisor.
Technical Advice and Instructions
- Provides engineers in charge of installation/remodelling, as well as contractor's engineers and technician, with technical advice to resolve troubles caused by unexpected constraints on site, design errors, Evaluates contractor's inadequacies and competence.
- Co-ordinates work procedures of electrical trouble shooting and modules installation with structural and utility engineers engaged in the project.
Review of Electrical Work and Systems
- Reviews drawings of electrical works and systems of plant and industrial buildings planned by projects and construction department, or other departments to prevent design faults or insufficient provisions, as assigned by supervisor.
- Performs inspections and performance tests for these facilities, as required.
- Reviews and design wires and cables for A/C units handled by the HVAC section.
Reporting
- Prepares section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Company and section requirements, policies and standards.

- Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and forms part of the function of the post.

Internal
- Electrical Section Supervisor, Electrical Inspectors, HVAC Section supervisor.
External
- Contractor's Foreman and Electricians.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & LANGUAGE SKILLS
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience
Languages
- Minimum English language required is KJO L4 – Intermediate
